The one-week repo rate falls to 36%. Commercial deposit and lending offers do not automatically move by the same amount on the same day.

The rate changes

  1. One-week repo: 37% to 36%.
  2. Overnight lending: 40% to 39%; borrowing: 35.5% to 34.5%.
  3. 100 basis points equals one percentage point.

What changed?

The CBRT reduced its three key rates by one percentage point. Future decisions remain meeting-dependent rather than a pre-announced sequence of cuts.

For savers and borrowers

A central-bank rate is not a retail bank quote. Compare deposits over the same term and principal after taxes and conditions. For loans, compare total repayment and fees; an existing fixed-rate loan does not automatically become cheaper because the policy rate changes.

No guaranteed market direction

The decision alone does not guarantee a move in currencies, gold or equities. Expectations, global conditions and liquidity also matter. This article does not claim a measured post-decision market reaction and is not investment advice.
