Three concrete effects of the price cut

  1. Petrol Ofisi's European Istanbul archive shows V/Max Diesel at TRY 97.20 on October 2 and TRY 95.00 on October 3. Gasoline held at TRY 84.60 and autogas at TRY 41.20 across the same two dates.
  2. The TRY 2.20 per-liter decline equals 2.26%. The reference cost of 50 liters fell from TRY 4,860 to TRY 4,750, a difference of TRY 110.
  3. For a diesel car using 7 liters per 100 km, the calculation falls from TRY 680.40 to TRY 665. The TRY 15.40 difference will vary with the vehicle, traffic and actual station price.

What changed at the pump?

Petrol Ofisi's official archive shows V/Max Diesel in European Istanbul at TRY 97.20 on October 2 and TRY 95.00 on October 3. The TRY 2.20 decline equals 2.26% when the same distributor and region are compared. The same table holds 95-octane gasoline at TRY 84.60 and autogas at TRY 41.20, showing that the daily change was concentrated in diesel.

What is the difference for one tank?

The reference cost of 50 liters of diesel was TRY 4,860 at the October 2 price and TRY 4,750 at the October 3 price. The TRY 110 difference is about 2.26% of the earlier cost. Even when a vehicle has a 50-liter tank, motorists do not necessarily buy a full tank each time; the cash difference scales with the liters actually purchased.

The 100-kilometer calculation

A car consuming 7 liters per 100 kilometers uses TRY 680.40 of fuel at TRY 97.20 per liter and TRY 665 at TRY 95. The difference is TRY 15.40. At 6 L/100 km the difference is TRY 13.20; at 8 L/100 km it is TRY 17.60. Traffic, speed, load, tire pressure, weather and driving style change actual consumption, so these are comparison examples.

Pass-through to transport and business costs

Diesel is a direct input for commercial transport and delivery fleets. A small fleet buying 1,000 liters per month would pay TRY 2,200 less for the same volume at the October 3 reference than at the October 2 price. Total operating cost is broader than fuel, however: payroll, maintenance, financing, road tolls and empty mileage can move in different directions over the same period.

What does it mean for a household budget?

The lower per-liter price reduces the next fuel bill but does not erase the price level built up over previous weeks. A fixed distance and the vehicle's actual fuel economy give the cleanest household estimate. At 1,000 kilometers per month and 7 L/100 km, 70 liters are required; a TRY 2.20 daily price difference changes that monthly fuel cost by TRY 154.

Why can the price differ across stations?

Petrol Ofisi says its published fuel prices are recommended dealer references and are not mandatory. Dealers may set their own pump prices according to market competition and operating conditions. The TRY 95 figure is therefore an official, comparable reference for European Istanbul—not one compulsory price at every station.

What should be monitored next?

A future increase or cut should not be treated as final before it appears in an official price table. The useful checklist is the same distributor and region across consecutive days; Mediterranean diesel-product prices; USD/TRY; tax decisions; and refining and distribution costs. Brent crude alone cannot explain Türkiye's diesel pump price.

Calculation notes

The figures are VAT-inclusive recommended pump prices shown in Petrol Ofisi's archive for European Istanbul on October 2 and 3, 2026. The percentage change (95 / 97.20 − 1), tank and distance calculations use full precision before rounding to two decimals. No station-specific transaction price, future move or expectation not yet reflected in the official table is used.
